Design Brief

Project Statement

In today’s digital age, connecting university students with similar interests, compatible schedules, or diverse skill sets is essential for fostering strong collaboration and academic success in group projects. However most students despise group projects, whether they feel as though they are not being heard, others aren’t pulling their weight, or they group doesn’t have all the skills for a well polished project.

How Can We?

How can we create a service to allow both students and professors be involved in the group creating process,. With both parties being included there is a higher chance students will be more driven and interested in fostering deeper connections with their work.

Research

Based on the data collected above we have concluded that 77% of the professors interviewed are open to new method of group formation and there is currently no commonly used or known software or program geared towards educators for group projects.

Professors were asked to rank one through five the most important aspects of group formation. Based on this information we gathered on average professors preferred students be matched by diversity in skill and shared goals over their compatible schedules and personalities.

This research was conducted prior to initial ideation to understand what professors would be open to exploring and use to assist them in creating teams for group projects.

Based on the starting research our original idea started with a wire frame and low fidelity models for an app/website that had a quiz to match you with your ideal groups and messaging boards and places to keep track of group work and efforts. This would also be a service that allowed you to have many classes flow through the same hub having a one stop shop for all you classes work in one easy to access place.

Post Ideation Research

After revisiting our research subjects and introducing our idea, they gave us feedback.
